Sensei Janet Farrell, 3rd Dan

My name is Janet and I started karate when I was 38 years old. I originally took my children to learn self defence but soon decided that this ‘was me’ I am still here 30 years later, I help sensei Wayne and sensei Chris by teaching the children which I absolutely love! people say that I seem to be on the same wavelength as the kids…I think it’s because I have grandchildren of my own.

The club makes everyone feel welcome, men, women and children of all ages can come for fun and fitness or for competition. Whatever the reason you will find the support you need. For me karate has given me discipline, focus, fitness and I find it a great stress release. It has also given me the confidence to know I can defend myself should I ever need to. I have always suffered with headaches but I know if I go there with a headache it’s gone on when I leave.

I can’t imagine life without karate the adrenaline rush it gives me and keeping fit, it all helps. I love being part of this club part of the team. We all support and share in each other’s success I still get the giggles and have so much fun.

I have been very lucky and won many trophies, my most recent at the Nationals a couple of months ago, I am a third Dan and I am proud of who I am and proud to be part of the club. Thank you Sensei Wayne for always being there for all of us.
