Karate has been a part of my life for years and I can honestly say I feel I’ve reaped the benefits both physically and mentally over the years. Karate has provided a level of all round fitness and flexibility that is hard to achieve in any other sport I have tried. It is also possible to adjust your style over the years to accommodate age.

I have met many students and made many friendships from all over the country and Europe over the years. I have trained with some pretty outstanding practitioners in the field having taken part in the international courses provided by Sensei Ohta in London and have so enjoyed it – aching muscles and all. I enjoyed competing back in the day and feel that this particularly improved my knowledge, speed and reactions in the art. I ran a small “kids” club in Sutton-on-Trent for several years which enabled me to give something back to karate.

My thanks to Sensei Wayne over the years for his coaching and perseverance which enabled me to reach 3rd Dan. I retired from work recently and also karate (temporarily) but have missed it so much. I am hoping to return to my training in martial arts once more (age is just a number). See you guys soon.
